Version 0.1.0-alpha.4

What's new

Schoolios follows semantic versioning with an alpha tag while it is being built with its first schools: 0.MINOR.PATCH-alpha.N. A new alpha number means new or changed behaviour; data and screens can still change between alphas, and we say so here. 1.0.0 is the first release we would run a school's whole year on.

0.1.0-alpha.4 — Pay your school by UPI, and a safer address for every school

25 October 2026 · Schools can put their own UPI QR on every fee invoice, each school has its own unique address, and Schoolios can now bill schools for their plan.

  • New Fees. A school's own UPI QR on every unpaid invoice. Families pay in any UPI app and tell the school the UPI reference; the fee desk confirms it when the money shows in the bank, and the family gets a receipt. The money goes straight to the school's bank account.
  • New Fees. Online payment through a school's own Razorpay account, for schools that want cards and net banking (Bloom and Canopy plans). The keys are stored encrypted and never shown again.
  • New Plan and billing. A school sees its plan, what it owes and how to pay Schoolios, and tells us when it has paid. Schoolios raises and confirms those invoices from a new Subscriptions page.
  • New Transport. Transport safety: scan children on and off the bus (families are told), set fare bands by distance, and keep a register of cameras with a reminder when one has not been checked.
  • New Setup. Import understands sheets from other systems: a single name column, father and mother columns, classes written as 5 or 5-A, and dates like 12-Jun-2016.
  • New Product. A security and privacy page that says what is protected, where the data lives, and what we do not have yet.
  • Better Schools. Every school now has its own unique address (a long code) inside the app, so two schools or branches with the same name can never be confused. The short name still works for the sign-in page and the admission form, and old links still open.
  • Better Accessibility. Every page is checked against WCAG 2.1 level AA on every release. Status colours were darkened for legibility, links in tables are underlined, and tables that scroll sideways can be reached from the keyboard.
  • Better Reliability. Schoolios is told when background work fails or runs late, and the framework and server libraries were updated to fix known security issues.
  • Fixed Layout. The menu no longer scrolls away with the page: only the page content scrolls.

0.1.0-alpha.3 — Know who is at school, and where the bus is

24 October 2026 · Attendance and transport now use the phone in your pocket, notices can be sent to particular classes, and spreadsheets from Excel import directly.

  • New Attendance. Staff check in and out from their phone. It counts only from inside the school's area; a check-in from outside is kept, shown to the office, and not counted.
  • New Transport. Bus tracking from the driver's phone: put each stop on the map once, start the trip, and families are told when the bus reaches their child's stop and can see how far away it is.
  • New Communication. Notices can be addressed to particular classes. Teachers can write only to the classes they teach; families see only notices meant for them.
  • New Setup. Import students and staff from an Excel (.xlsx) sheet as well as CSV, with a preview of every problem before anything is saved.
  • New Platform. Email through Resend and online fee payment through Razorpay are built and switch on when the school's keys are added. Until then the test versions run.
  • New Product. This changelog, the roadmap, a version number in the menu, and an Alpha ribbon so everyone knows what stage the product is at.
  • Better App. The picture at the top right opens an account menu with notifications and sign out. The open-book mark is now the browser icon everywhere.

0.1.0-alpha.2 — Built for Indian schools, and hard to lose work in

23 October 2026 · The compliance set, the wider modules, three languages, and a promise that a refresh never loses what you typed.

  • New Compliance. UDISE+ and APAAR identifiers, RTE seats and reimbursement, consent with a verifiable-parent flow, data requests, a board-readiness report, and the yearly promotion run.
  • New Fees. Instalments, concessions, late fees, cheques that can bounce, refunds with reasons, GST on invoices and bank-statement reconciliation.
  • New Modules. Holistic progress card, period-wise attendance, timetable planner, exam logistics and seating, behaviour, health, houses and clubs, inventory, school accounts, front desk and grievances.
  • New Languages. The menu and the school's messages in English, Hindi and Kannada, in each person's own language.
  • New Platform. Plans with a flat monthly price, per-school feature switches, school logo, idle sign-out, a public status page, and a sign-in area that can be limited to the school's location.
  • Better Everything. Every panel and dialog has its own address, and what you typed in it is kept, so a refresh or a dropped connection does not lose your place.
  • Better Menu. The menu is grouped into sections built from what each person's role can see.

0.1.0-alpha.1 — The first working school

26 July 2026 · Students, attendance, fees, exams, homework, staff and notices in one place.

  • New Core. Student records with guardians, daily attendance, fee invoices and payments, exams and marks, report cards, homework, staff and payroll, library, transport routes and notices.
  • New Access. Sign-in with roles for principal, teacher, office, accounts, transport, library and family, each seeing only their own part.
  • New Setup. School signup, a setup checklist, staff invitations and a first CSV import for students.
